reply Fast forward to the present, Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV) era has just begun, a much bigger place for Bitcoin collateral. This time, the question was: Can we build a universal protocol that allows native Bitcoin to be used as collateral trustlessly in any application on any blockchain, without bridging or wrapping?
The answer was yes, and with the breakthrough from BABE, TBV came to live. Now the first use case of TBV, native Bitcoin-backed borrowing is available on @aave v4 on testnet.

reply Many years later, Byzantine Research, Babylon's research arm, was created with his concern regarding centralized control of information. He set out to use Bitcoin's security for new use cases, starting with trustless staking.
Babylon Staking Protocol was ideated and launched successfully in 2024. The protocol has since activated over $7B worth of Bitcoin at peak since the launch.

Babylon started as a research question at Stanford: how do you make Bitcoin productive without breaking its trust model?
Before we answer that question right away, let’s go back in time with @dntse’s interview. David invented proportional-fair scheduling, the algorithm behind 3G, 4G and 5G, before turning to Bitcoin's productivity problem.
