Volume reached $708.3B, up 69.6% from $417.6B in June, and most of the increase came from four symbols. In June this market was led by gold, silver and SpaceX. In July it was memory chips. Most Traded Assets of the Month Four of the five are the same bet. SanDisk, Micron and SK Hynix all make memory chips, and SOXL provides 3x daily leveraged exposure to a broad semiconductor index. Between them those four symbols accounted for roughly 81% of the entire market's increase. Behind that is a memory market in short supply. AI data centres now absorb around 70% of the world's memory chip output, and prices have gone vertical: memory that goes into an ordinary laptop is up nearly 700% over the past year, and SK Hynix's CEO said in July the shortage will probably last beyond 2030. Two listings landed in the middle of it. SK Hynix’s ADRs began trading on Nasdaq on 10 July following a $26.51B offering, the largest first-time share sale by a foreign company on record. CXMT listed in Shanghai on July 27 and took the whole sector down with it. SanDisk fell nearly 37% over four trading days and then rallied 21.5% in a single morning on July 30.
