Moments That Defined Sui's July 2026 Record throughput, regulated exposure, and BTC as programmable collateral. Sui's July made the case for the machine economy. Here are the moments that mattered: AI Agent Experiment on Sui hits 6,086,766 TPS (July 4) On July 4, Sui processed the highest TPS ever recorded on the network during a public livestreamed AI agent experiment. The experiment targeted 1M TPS and cleared over six times that, settling millions of offchain agent interactions onchain. Why it matters: “This is agent-to-agent commerce, competitive gaming, and prediction markets running gaslessly at massive scale.” - @kostascrypto . This is the machine economy in action. Gas fees for stablecoin transfers continue to be 0 on Sui (July 16) Gas fees? Not on Sui. Why it matters: Removing one of the biggest friction points in blockchain-based payments: the requirement to hold a separate gas token to move digital dollars onchain. Now at the protocol level. Hashi testnet goes live (July 22) The infrastructure to safely deploy native $BTC into transparent, programmable credit markets hasn’t existed – until now. With Hashi, native BTC will become programmable collateral on Sui, and testnet is one step closer to bringing this to reality. Fenwick, one of the foremost law firms in digital assets, concluded that Hashi's deposit and redemption mechanics should not constitute taxable events under U.S. tax law. Why it matters: Roughly $1T of Bitcoin currently sits idle. Hashi keeps BTC on the Bitcoin network and lets formally verified Sui contracts orchestrate it in Bitcoin-backed financial applications. Why it matters: Staking access directly in Coinbase reduces a major friction point for millions of existing accounts. CME Group puts $SUI in its Q2 crypto snapshot (July 24) $SUI appeared in @CMEgroup's quarterly review alongside its futures and options notional volume. Why it matters: Regulated venue coverage is how allocators get exposure to Sui at scale. Rethinking privacy for institutional finance (July 28) An in-depth conversation between Abhinav Garg of @Mysten_Labs and Justus Delp of @MerkleScience, a confidential transfers design partner, explored compliant privacy. Why it matters: The conversation tackles the questions regulators actually ask about confidential transfers, showing how they make public blockchains practical for enterprise financial workflows, including payments, treasury, settlement, and tokenized capital markets. Why it matters: With projects spanning agentic commerce to DeFi infrastructure, Sui Overflow is showcasing what gets built on Sui next. SUI Buybacks are reinvested in the ecosystem (July 30) Sui earns yield on stablecoin float, the Foundation uses that yield to buy $SUI on the open market daily, and the purchased SUI goes back into the ecosystem to grow the float again. Why it matters: 317.5K SUI bought back year to date against $443.2M of stablecoin float. Revenue tied to reserves rather than per-transaction fees. Check out the daily charts here: https://www.sui.io/buybacks Also this month: @GoraeProtocol brings EV chargers onchain with Sui and @Walrusprotocol. @suidevelopers hosted the first nerding out session with @kostascrypto and @abhinavg6. Ten moments, one month, one direction. Sui spent July building the parts and letting the numbers speak. Sui Basecamp 2026 in Singapore is where it all comes together.
