COINBASE: Stablecoins, Agentic Markets, and a Win for Crypto: July @Coinbase
Crypto spent years proving it deserved a place in the financial system.
This month offered a glimpse of what comes next: that system rebuilding itself on crypto rails.
Stablecoins became more useful collateral. Institutions moved more assets onchain. AI agents gained better ways to pay and trade.
And when the government tried to quietly push crypto out of America, we took it to court and won.
Here's everything that happened @Coinbase in July ↓
Platform & Product
The everything exchange has a passport.
This month, we secured authorization to bring equities and derivatives to the UK, introduced USDC-BRL for customers in Brazil, and gave eligible Coinbase One members across Europe a new reason to bring their crypto to Coinbase.
One trusted platform built to work across the globe.
Stablecoins continued their journey from 'crypto product' to financial infrastructure.
Coinbase One members can now lend USDC at ∼7% APY with the flexibility to withdraw anytime. Meanwhile, Marex is enabling clients to use USDC as initial margin for US-regulated futures and options, powered by Coinbase infrastructure.
Institutional assets aren’t waiting to move onchain.
Mubadala Capital, a sovereign-backed asset manager with $600B in AUM, tokenized one of its major private-market strategies across Base, Solana, and Sui.
We added it to our balance sheet.
The long-term security of Bitcoin requires long-term thinking.
We launched the Bitcoin Security Consortium alongside BlackRock, Fidelity, Block, and others to help prepare the network for emerging threats, including advances in quantum computing.
More assets are coming onchain. Finding them shouldn’t require six tabs and a group chat.
Our new Launches tab lets you find and trade Base and Solana tokens as soon as they go live onchain. And our new customizable markets dashboard brings market data, new listings, top gainers, and more into one view.
SUI staking is now available directly on Coinbase, with rewards accumulating in your account.
AI, @Base & Developers
The internet’s next billion users might not be human.
They don’t sleep, they don’t click, and now they can pay, trade, and build. This month, we shipped more tools for the agentic economy. Welcome to AiFi (Agentic Finance).
Native x402 support landed in the CDP SDK.
Developers can now add x402 payments to an app or create x402-gated endpoints in three lines of code, while Coinbase handles wallets, multichain support, and facilitator authentication.
Coinbase for Agents also gained real-time order books, live price updates, and the ability to execute based on user-defined conditions.
Set a strategy in plain English. Define the guardrails. Let your agent handle the monitoring.
Base infrastructure kept moving forward.
Base Beryl and the B20 Native Token Standard went live on mainnet, laying more groundwork for global assets to operate as programmable capital.
Fixed-rate loans also launched on Base.
Agents aren’t the only bots onchain.
Base Verify Onchain is now live on Base Sepolia, helping builders distinguish real community members from industrial airdrop farmers so rewards reach the people they were intended for.
Bots might be able to pay now, but that doesn’t mean they should get your airdrop.
And for teams building across tokenization, stablecoins, credit, prediction markets, institutional markets, agentic commerce, or whatever category gets invented next, Base wants to hear from you.
Community & Culture
Crypto gained ground in court, in Washington, and somehow at the Emmys.
The government tried to quietly push crypto out of America. We sued to expose what happened, and we won.
One year after the GENIUS Act, stablecoin growth is showing what clear rules can unlock.
Smart legislation leads to homegrown innovation. Homegrown innovation builds the future of finance.
Next up: CLARITY.
Ryan VanGrack is stepping up as Vice Chair, where he’ll help advance crypto and Coinbase through the industry’s next chapter.
If you do one thing today, follow @RVanGrack.
The Coinbase Champions Cup went live for customers in India, with a ₹3.3Cr prize pool and rewards including USDC, luxury watches, trips to New York and Abu Dhabi, and a Mini Cooper.
Most trading competitions do not require a parking space, but this one might.
Crypto also made it to television’s biggest stage.
Your Way Out was nominated for Outstanding Commercial at the 2026 Emmys.
A crypto ad getting an Emmy nomination wasn’t on the original roadmap. We’ll take it.
And Joe returned with a century-old photo player to remind us that parts of the financial system are approximately the same age.
Bad news for finance - great news for the timeline.
A lot happened in July, but the financial system isn’t going to update itself.
Good thing we’ve been busy.
Back to work.
