Yesterday, Ondo Finance submitted a comment letter to the SEC on proposed changes to transfer agent rules, which govern the firms that maintain shareholder records.
As stocks and ETFs move onchain, the rules governing their underlying infrastructure must evolve with them.
Drawing on Ondo’s tokenization experience, the letter calls for three key changes:
→ Expand access to transfer agents and DTC for onchain investors
→ Streamline routine transfers without duplicating legal and identity checks
→ Support competition among transfer agents and protect investor choice
The SEC is updating a framework built nearly 50 years ago. This is an opportunity to connect the depth of traditional markets with the openness of public blockchains.
Ondo looks forward to working with the SEC to help build a more open, efficient, and competitive financial system.
