Reply to @aut3z: Jito spent 4 years building the pipes every @solana trade runs through. Block Engine, JitoSOL, BAM, a client on 97% of validators.
But infra money swings with the market. @jito's protocol revenue fell 45% in Q2, MEV tip revenue was down 50%.
So they went looking for a new revenue line and picked the one with the brightest future on Solana: trading.
But is it the right call?
That's @jtx_trade. A self-custody trading app, you sign everything, it routes your orders through Solana DEXs and sometimes through Jito's own Block Engine. Limit orders, Smart Fill for big orders, and a "Good Trade" check that compares your fill to the big CEXs.
Spot only for now. Perps are coming, but Jito isn't building its own engine. It's plugging into @PhoenixTrade.
And that's where it gets tricky. Phoenix lets any app route flow through builder codes and charge a fee on top of Phoenix's own fees, paid by the trader.
Price it high and traders just go to Phoenix directly. Price it low and the revenue is thin. And @ImperialPerps is already doing the aggregator game well, routing across Phoenix, Jupiter Perps and more.
I can't see JTX's users, volume or revenue anywhere. My guess is it's not much yet. To really pay off, everyone needs to trade there.
So as a trader, why would I use JTX? There's no JTX token, the value goes to JTO buybacks and burns. Don't expect an airdrop.
I know Jito has huge power and backing. But is JTX their next horse or the thing that drags them down?
Would love to hear how @buffalu__ sees it.
