Speaker Johnson, who said in March that it would be a “temporary blip” in high gas prices, told me today: “We think that turns a corner right after the election.”
“Gas prices will come down when the Strait of Hormuz is reopened. It's going to happen soon after the election,” he said.
Asked Johnson if his party should have done more on gas prices and affordability, he said: “No,” pointing to passage of tax cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
“We have the conditions in place for the economy to take off like a rocket,” he said.
