#France: Fuel distributors are preparing to benefit from a release of strategic diesel stocks intended to lower prices. They will not have to replenish them afterward, POLITICO learned from two distributors and from Ufip-EM, the federation representing the French oil industry.
On October 7, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced the release, starting November 1 , of ten million barrels of diesel from strategic stocks.
This liberalization will allow distributors to purchase diesel at the average price at which it was produced, approximately 28 euro cents per liter. With a price significantly lower than current market prices, the sale should result in a reduction of 12 to 18 cents per liter at the pump.
