robinhood has little incentive to introduce their users to the onchain economy if the primary apps are related to memeco | Hanami
robinhood has little incentive to introduce their users to the onchain economy if the primary apps are related to memecoins and the average user loses 80%
that said, the ability for teams to experiment with tokenized stocks opens up the design space to create interesting experiences that don’t cause 80% of people to lose money but that is still up to the builders to deliver
Reply to @0xBotto: Robinhood chain was supposed to be about RWAs, then the memes showed up and you guys actually welcomed us.
@vladtenev said the chain worked great for memes too, @RobinhoodCrypto started talking about the trenches and builders, CASHCAT got listed on the main app, and by september we'd already seen over 75B in DEX volume.
I genuinely thought this was the best opportunity we'd had since Solana in 2025.
And what I liked most was seeing where people were taking it. LONG, PONS, memes paired with tokenized stocks, new trading products, lending, liquidity tools. People were actually finding ways to make RWAs interesting to the same crowd that came here to trade memes. How is that not worth investing in?
That's also why the HOOD summit felt disappointing. I wasn't expecting the whole event to be about crypto, but after everything that happened over the summer, barely hearing about the chain in the keynote was strange.
And almost 4 months later we're still waiting to see more of what brought so many of us here in the first place: Robinhood's distribution.
$CASHCAT made it into the app, but $PONS, one of the projects that brought the most attention and activity to your own chain, is still only available to watch there.
I know about the 1M open house commitment, the buildathons, mentorships and gas subsidies. Those are good things. I just wonder what happens to all the projects that are already here, building and bringing users, once the initial excitement wears off.
@fern asked what we'd like to see in the next 100 days, and @JohannKerbrat said supporting builders was a top priority.
@GThabot @seongboii @zjaknb, is there anything planned for the teams already building here? more integrations with the main app, incentives, liquidity support, some way for their products to actually reach rh users?
I understand we're early, and with BTC/ETH cooling off nobody should expect September's volume to last forever.
But seeing people already compare rh chain to base is frustrating, a few months ago it felt like we were onto something pretty special here.
I still think we are... I just want to see robinhood commit to making it last.
