Solana ain’t waiting around for Q-Day. Right after shipping Alpenglow (~150ms finality), Solana devs dropped Quantumglow: a research design swapping in hash-based signatures for validators, keeping the chain quantum-resistant without killing that speed. Future quantum computers could crack standard crypto and fake validator votes. The catch? Quantum-proof signatures are usually heavy and murder network throughput. Quantumglow works around that bloat. It's still in research and only covers validators for now (wallets come later), but hardening the consensus layer before the threat arrives is the move.
