The Starknet community has voted in favor of researching @Starknet's transition to L1.
This is a good moment to make the case: why I'm bullish on Starknet?
In short: It's THE future-proofed programmable, secure, endgame chain built for what comes next
Here's why:
• Crypto agility: Starknet has everything it needs to evolve and improve, be it for post-quantum security, better UX, scale, privacy, or any other desired trait. It has the right architecture to do this seamlessly, without breaking things or asking users and builders to go through an exhausting process. Starknet's community is part of this agility with its ability to approve and contribute to changes when needed (with the latest example: starting the research to become an L1).
• Quantum-resistant cryptography: ZK-STARKs were designed with post-quantum security in mind (it's actually in the title of the 2018 STARK paper), and they are the foundation for Starknet's stack. As for parts of the system that are not yet PQS, we will do the needed work to ensure all of Starknet is post-quantum secure.
• Privacy: aside from PQS, ZK-STARKs are desgined for privacy. STRK20 is the optimal privacy design for DeFi, creating a privacy layer that allows what I like to define as Usable privacy. If we want to enable privacy for all sorts of DeFi activities onchain, you need composability and easy UX. Starknet's STRK20 offers exactly that.
• UX: UX is made of many things -- speed, cost, finality, UI, privacy, security, and many other things -- Starknet is leading on all these fronts. It was designed specifically for better UX.
Everything that a programmable future-proofed chain needs is in this list.
Security? Privacy? Agility? UX? That's everything you need to bring DeFi to the next level and that's what Starknet is for.
Bullish!
