📞🇵🇱🇮🇱 Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister @sikorskiradek spoke with his Israeli counterpart, @gidonsaar.
❗ The main topic of the conversation was the attack by illegal Israeli settlers on a diplomatic convoy in the West Bank, which also included Polish diplomats. Minister @gidonsaar informed his counterpart of the police operation carried out and the arrests made in connection with the incident.
The Israeli side also raised the issue of Poland joining the joint statement initiated by the UK and signed by 12 countries on restrictions on trade in goods originating from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Minister Sikorski stressed that the West Bank and the Gaza Strip are not part of Israel. Israel is the occupying power in these territories, which entails specific obligations under international law, particularly with regard to the protection of civilians.
🌍 The ministers also discussed Russian support for Iran and the security situation in both regions.
Regarding Russia’s aggression against Ukraine 🇺🇦, Minister Sikorski emphasised the need to increase international pressure on Russia, the aggressor, rather than on the victim of its aggression.
Both ministers agreed that Poland is a safe and welcoming country for visitors. This is reflected, among other things, in the growing number of Israeli tourists choosing Poland as their travel destination.
