U.S. INFLATION STAYS ABOVE FED TARGET FOR 66 STRAIGHT MONTHS
September CPI rose 3.7% YoY, exceeding expectations and extending inflation's streak above the Fed's 2% target to 66 consecutive months — more than five years.
According to Bespoke Investment Group, this marks only the third period in the past century when U.S. inflation has remained above 2% for at least five years.
Persistent inflation continues to complicate the Fed's path toward lower interest rates.
