Putin has delivered yet another negative “response” to the proposal of an energy ceasefire announced by President Trump and supported by President Zelenskyy.
Instead of one “yes” to peace efforts — 39 missiles and more than 120 drones. Cynically, the main targets of this strike were Ukraine's energy objects.
At least three people were killed in Kyiv and more than 20 were injured. Kyiv and Kharkiv suffered massive strikes. Across Ukraine, rescue and repair teams are dealing with the consequences.
Putin is not simply attacking Ukraine. He is openly defying the United States and treating every attempt to stop this war with contempt.
There can be no economic rewards for aggression. No sanctions relief. No concessions that allow Russia to finance its next wave of terror. Every dollar that reaches Moscow's war budget is another resource for attacks on Ukrainian civilians and threats to transatlantic security.
We urge our partners to respond with stronger sanctions, tougher enforcement, and immediate additional air defence support for Ukraine.
Putin must face consequences for rejecting peace, not incentives to continue the war.
