Russia to Ease Diesel Export Restrictions, Deputy PM Says
Russia plans to gradually lift restrictions on diesel fuel exports, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on October 9, following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a deal reached during a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Novak said Moscow welcomed US efforts to stabilise global energy markets and was ready to coordinate further measures to support predictable energy trade.
According to Novak, Russia could supply the United States and other partners with 300,000 tonnes of diesel in October, 500,000 tonnes in November and up to 1 million tonnes in December, eventually reaching 3 million tonnes per month. He added that domestic demand would remain fully supplied. The announcement signals a potential increase in global diesel availability, although Russia’s government had previously extended its export restrictions through October 31.
