SpaceX just officially announced two massive milestones for Starlink Mobile

Starlink is on its way to becoming a major mobile carrier in the US

SpaceX is acquiring nationwide 800 MHz spectrum

SpaceX agreed to acquire a nationwide low-band spectrum license portfolio of up to 14 MHz of paired spectrum in the 800 MHz band

this fills one of the key remaining technical gaps before Starlink Mobile can become a major US carrier

Why low-band spectrum matters

Lower frequencies travel farther and pass through obstacles much better

• Starlink Mobile's global 2 GHz mid-band spectrum delivers the high-bandwidth capacity
• The new 800 MHz low-band spectrum adds a coverage layer that gets through walls and reaches phones inside buildings
• Most phones people already own support this band

One network, satellites plus towers

Once the FCC gives final approval, Starlink Mobile will combine its satellite-to-mobile constellation in space with an advanced ground network, so devices connect seamlessly everywhere

That makes Starlink Mobile the first network operator to deploy both satellite and terrestrial spectrum

One network that works indoors, outdoors, in cellular dead zones, and everywhere in between

The FCC also approved 15,000 next-gen satellites

This week the FCC also approved Starlink Mobile's Gen2 constellation, authorizing SpaceX to launch 15,000 satellites optimized for 2 GHz spectrum worldwide

• The V2 Starlink Mobile satellites will deliver more than 100x the bandwidth of the current generation
• High-speed service goes directly to regular, unmodified phones anywhere in the world
• The FCC also authorized the full range of backhaul bands (Ka/V/E/W) for Starlink's V3 broadband satellites, so they can work with Starlink's existing gateway network

From dense cities to the most remote rural towns, Starlink Mobile is building a network that keeps Americans connected no matter where they are

The future of mobile is Starlink now
