According to Korean media reports, Samsung and AMD met today to find common ground: Samsung wants AMD to place orders with Samsung Foundry in return for supplying HBM and other memory, and AMD urgently needs memory. A senior semiconductor industry official quoted by Korean media said, "AMD sees entrusting its foundry work to Samsung Electronics as too risky," adding, "To secure a stable supply of HBM, AMD has to accept Samsung's proposal, but the two sides see it differently, and that gap is what brought about these talks."
