Some large security/intelligence accounts on X are reporting attacks on Saudi oil facilities and are now claiming an attack on Pumping Station #2 on the East-West pipeline.
Here is the problem with those accounts: It is not only that some of their past reporting turned out to be fake news, and assume every flaring is an attack, it is that they are now stating with "certainty" that this was a Houthi attack.
If military and intelligence services need time to determine the source of an attack, how can an X account decide with certainty in seconds that it was the Houthis? Is the account affiliated with the IRGC and the Houthis?
Pumping Station #2? Look at the map again and check the location before you even say “Houthis.”
The same accounts kept saying the Houthis attacked the pumping station that shut down the East-West pipeline, even after it was established that the attack came from Iraq. So are these accounts affiliated with the Houthis to show their power?
At least one large account on X that posts this kind of news, including fake news, is affiliated with the IRGC and run by an Iranian in a western country, and @elonmusk has no problem with it.
Again, I am not denying some of these attacks took place, but I have a problem with three things:
1- Attributing any fire or flaring to attacks.
2- Attributing all of that to Houthis.
3- If pumping station 2 is hit, there is no way it can be an attack from the Houthis in yemen. Check the map. Check the history of past attacks on the same region.
