I think the U.S. really wants to stop Russia’s war. I trust them. Then, I understand it's difficult to stop somebody who’s big and doesn't want to stop. That's why you're trying to find some compromises with Russia. But I think we are losing time if we want to play with Russian compromises.
Because if Putin sees you can support something, he will try to give you another idea, some other issues and new conditions. New government – new conditions. Leaders in Europe change? New conditions. The U.S. policy? President Trump appeared – very strong – new conditions. He is trying to be very polite. Now the United States faces a challenge in the Middle East - negotiations with Iran. You will see new conditions from Russia. President Trump wants to have some kind of victory before the midterms. But Putin will do everything to push the Iranians and make this whole situation non-negotiable.
The same with Russia’s war against Ukraine. If Putin sees that President Trump needs some victory, he will decide what to give and what not to give. And this is the problem – Putin started to think that it is he who can decide. But America is one hundred times stronger than Russia. Absolutely. They just have to remember that.
