AI CHIP STARTUP VOLANTIS JUST RAISED $88 MILLION TO FIX AI'S MEMORY BOTTLENECK USING LIGHT
The Series A was led by Abstract and Lachy Groom, with John Doerr and Google's Jeff Dean also investing.
Volantis says its optical approach could make AI inference fast enough for coding agents to finish jobs in minutes or seconds instead of hours. Its team helped build the first CoWoS product and early HBM memory, and its next chip has already taped out.
The raise comes a day after Micron $MU reported a record quarter on AI memory demand.
