Velodrome Chain Support Update
TL;DR
On 10/21, Velodrome and Aerodrome are scheduled to upgrade together to form Aero
The launch chain list is now confirmed and includes OP Mainnet and Ink
VELO emissions and voting will continue to be active on OP Mainnet and Ink until launch
To prepare for the upgrade, Velodrome is winding down emissions and cross-chain support on all other chains
Gauges have been or will be deactivated for: Celo, Fraxtal, Soneium, Unichain, Superseed, Metal, Mode, Swell, Lisk
Velodrome plans to continue to support the following chains with trading/LP functionality even after Aero launches (no gauges, voting, emission, etc): Celo, Fraxtal, Soneium, Unichain
Required user actions:
All xVELO (cross-chain VELO) must be bridged from all chains to OP Mainnet by October 15.
Assets should be withdrawn from Lisk before October 31. Assets left after that date will not be recoverable.
Staked LP deposits on any chain other than OP Mainnet or Ink should be unstaked as gauges are deactivated.
What's changing, and why
Aero is set to launch on October 21 as the unified liquidity layer for Ethereum. In the weeks leading up to launch, Velodrome is streamlining its offering around the chains that will carry forward and winding down support elsewhere. This update covers what changes for each chain and what, if anything, users need to do.
Chain-by-chain status
Active gauges on Velodrome + Full Aero deployment at launch: OP Mainnet, Ink
Pools on these two chains will continue to be able to receive VELO emissions and votes in the final weeks before the upgrade. When Aero launches, Velodrome will make it easy to upgrade eligible deposits to new pools on Aero.
Velodrome front end continues to support, without emissions: Celo, Fraxtal, Soneium, Unichain
These chains will remain accessible on the Velodrome app for trading and liquidity deposits even after the launch of Aero. Note: gauges, VELO emissions, and cross-chain functionality (Superswaps, xVELO bridging) are being turned off ahead of the Aero launch.
As a scalable liquidity infrastructure, Aero will also retain the ability to deploy to any of these chains in the future, either with Aero Lite or its full token economy.
No longer actively supported: Superseed, Metal, Mode
These networks are no longer being actively supported. Trading and deposit functionality may remain in the Velodrome app, but users are encouraged to unstake and withdraw positions when convenient.
Closing: Swell, Lisk
Lisk chain user withdrawals close on October 31. Any assets remaining on Lisk after that date will not be recoverable. Users with positions on Lisk should withdraw immediately. Swell is already offline.
xVELO: bridge back by October 15
Cross-chain functionality is winding down. Any xVELO held on any chain other than OP Mainnet should be bridged back to OP Mainnet by October 15 to avoid the risk of losing access to those tokens.
