US PROBES SINGAPORE FREIGHT FIRM APEX LOGISTICS OVER ALLEGED NVIDIA CHIP SMUGGLING

The Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security is examining whether Apex transported AI systems made by Super Micro $SMCI to China in breach of export controls, people familiar tell Bloomberg. It would be the first action against a transportation company in the illegal semiconductor trade.

BIS is looking at 47 shipments from 2024, each labeled by two former Apex employees with a code indicating the hardware was not export-controlled. Those employees left shortly after Apex learned of the probe.

Apex says it is cooperating fully. Swiss parent Kuehne+Nagel says it has not itself been contacted. Neither Nvidia $NVDA nor Super Micro has been accused of wrongdoing.
